Fitness and Wellness Programs

The Fitness & Wellness program promotes healthy lifestyles through the creation of opportunities for embracing positive behaviors and education. We not only contribute to the enhancement of student academic success and wellbeing, but also to all members of the UNC community through a variety of services, including: Group Fitness, Personal Training, Massage Therapy, and Wellness Education. 

We strive to provide cutting-edge Fitness and Wellness programming in alignment with industry standards in an inclusive environment with exceptional customer service.

    The mission of the UNC Fitness and Wellness program is to provide cutting-edge Fitness and Wellness programming in alignment with industry standards in an inclusive environment with exceptional customer service.

  • GOALS

    • Create an inclusive environment and ensure every participant has a positive and successful experience.
    • Educate participants to broaden their knowledge and increase their awareness about positive health behaviors.
    • Assess participant needs and provide appropriate activities and services.
    • Offer programs and services that reflect current industry trends.
    • Provide professional development opportunities for staff and participants, in order to provide the highest quality of service possible.
  • GROUP FITNESS

    As a part of the Fitness and Wellness Program within the Department of Campus Recreation, Group Fitness offers a variety of classes each week that are inviting to all fitness levels. These classes provide participants with many of the benefits and attributes of the Wellness Wheel (physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, etc.) thus helping them toward a more balanced lifestyle.  We offer various formats, such as:  strength, cardio, dance-based, core/balance, yoga, and fusion modalites.

    Classes are open to all students with a current FitPass and are included in all non-student memberships. FitPasses are currently offered for daily or semesterly use.  Inquire at the Front Desk for more information or visit the Group Fitness page.

  • PERSONAL TRAINING

    As a part of the Fitness and Wellness Program within the Department of Campus Recreation, Personal Training offers customized fitness programs to align with individual goals and abilities. All personal trainers in this program are students who are certified through nationally accredited associations.

  • MASSAGE THERAPY

    Massage Therapy offers many great benefits including (but not limited to): stress/pain relief, fatigue reduction, improved circulation and increased energy.  The licensed massage therapist is capable of providing a variety of massage therapy options depending on each person’s individual needs.

  • WELLNESS EDUCATION

    Wellness Education provides a variety of resources, programs, and workshops to help students and all members of the campus community learn about and find more balance and greater wellbeing in their life.     We are proud of all the members of the FitWell Team!
